I’m going to give Elementary a chance. But I’m afraid the rest of the fandom will eat me alive…

I’m going to, too. I mean Sherlock Holmes as a story has to be fair game or the BBC version couldn’t exist either. I can almost guarantee I won’t like it as much, but I can give it a chance.
I’m also not too peeved about female Watson. If my theory as to their reasoning is correct (and I could definitely be wrong) then yeah, I’m a little annoyed they think it’s necessary for Watson to be female in order for there to be sexual tension and/or a relationship. But other than that, why not? People genderbend both characters in fanfiction/art all the time. The only difference is that they’ve got a lot more money to make it happen.
